Aptitute for Learning-by-doing campaign started

To make sure that the EcoSUN green Village will work properly in the long term an important issue is education, and training for people in the community of Ekuphumleni.

It is therefore a decisive immaterial component of the joint RSA-German cooperation to educate a group of young people to be able to deal with the whole system,  starting with deeper insight into issues of sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) for which the EcoSUN approach contributes, and to get them trained in understanding the technology through a „learning-by-doing“ procedure. The details of the schedule are under consideration yet and will depend on the shape of the whole system after realization.

In this stage of project we are busy managing recruitment of people who to become involved in this important and challenging educational process. This was recently started by Prof. Sijekula Mbanga and his team of Nelson Mandela University.

Based on criteria relevant for technical understanding that were developed by the German Institut of Vocational Training in the building industry (BfwBB) a group of young people keen on learning technology news and interested in cooperation was invited and 10 of them were choosen after passing the test successfully.
