EVERS Water Technology

EVERS Water technology and Filter materials,
is a family owned company, which has been producing filter materials for water treatment for more than 40 years. EVERZIT® N is a high quality filter material made out of the natural and raw material anthracite coal, which is mined in Ibbenbüren, Germany. EVERS manufactures EVERZIT® N in a unique process, developed by ourselves. It has been supplied worldwide and is used for example in some of the biggest drinking water treatment plants of the world. The main application of EVERZIT® N is the so called multi-layer filtration for particle removal as well as for iron and manganese removal in case of ground water treatment. EVERZIT® N increases the capacity of a conventional sand filter units and reduces the operational costs, because of saving a lot of backwash water and energy at the same time.
Major references are the municipal water treatment plants of Al Jubail (Saudi Arabia), Aguilas-Murcia (Spain), Algiers (Alger), Ankara (Turkey) and Chennai (India).

63098a40a30c4d1f21431d7ea29d4479.jpg Due to 40 years of experience in the field of drinking water treatment and due to the work in the international water market, EVERS realized the necessity of the development of decentralized drinking water treatment units. The supply of drinking water to the people, especially those living in emerging and developing countries, i.e. India, parts of South America and Africa, can only be achieved with local and small filter units. Nevertheless these filter units have to be suitable to meet all international standards for drinking water, i.e. WHO (World Health Organisation), AWWA (American Water Works Association) or the German Drinking Water regulation (TrinkwV 2001). First of all these units have to be very simple and robust in construction, so that it is possible to build, install and operate these units on site. A long-term and sustainable operation can only be guaranteed, if the local staff is able to repair the treatment unit, if necessary.

In the context of a research and development project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), together with the University of Applied Science in Münster (Prof. Becke) EVERS developed a new and innovative filter unit for the decentralized drinking water treatment in the years of 2003 until 2006, which meets the above mentioned requirements. An additional aim of this project was to minimize the energy consumption of this unit.

Furthermore EVERS participated in two R&D projects of the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT in Oberhausen in the years 2006 - 2008 (“Microsieves”) and 2009 - 2012 (“Nanoefficiency”) for the development and application of metallic based microsieves for the use in drinking water and waste water treatment, and food technology.
