Vocational Advancement Service of the Construction Industry

The Vocational Advancement Service of the Construction Industry Berlin-Brandenburg (BFW) was founded in 1990 as a non-profit organisation. Since 2002 it has been certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001.
The corporate objective of BFW is to promote vocational training as well as advancement and adaptation training in the construction industry. BFW also conducts retraining and is involved in numerous other educational activities and educational services for the construction industry, the building trade and the Federal Employment Agency. BFW is actively involved in local, regional, national and international networks. There is close cooperation with the construction industry, the Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Chambers of Crafts, secondary schools and upper secondary school centres, colleges and universities, industrial associations, responsible committees, local and regional authorities and many more.
The BFW operates three vocational training centres (VTC) for the construction industry and its office in Brandenburg, Germany. The training centres have developed into competence centres with the following focal points:

  • VTC Construction in Brandenburg an der Havel: well and foundation engineering, construction equipment operators, canal and pipeline construction
  • Competence Centre for Sustainable Building in Cottbus: sustainable and energy-efficient building, road maintenance
  • VTC Construction in Frankfurt (Oder): concrete technology, timber construction

The following professions are trained at BFW: Building construction worker, bricklayer, concrete and reinforced concrete builder, extension worker, tile-plate and mosaic layer, heat, cold and sound insulator, drywall installer, carpenter, civil engineering worker, road builder, canal builder, pipeline builder, well builder, special civil engineering worker, road attendant, construction equipment operator, housekeeping.
Over the years, BFW and its staff have gained a lot of experience and knowledge in vocational training, vocational preparation and vocational orientation of young people with and without social disadvantages and learning disabilities as well as of adults in further education and in international projects with foreign participants.
Several thousand international guests, including teachers, vocational school pupils, students, engineers, managers and other experts have already used our training centres for study and training purposes. BFW has partners in over 40 countries on four continents around the world (Europe, Asia, Africa and South America). It offers educational services both in Germany and project-related in partner countries.
